Lee Machan, Manager of Marketing and Sales for fP Technologies recently made a fileProGI presentation to close to fifty customers of Computer Resources at their annual users group meeting in Birmingham, Alabama. Computer Resources offers applications for the two-radio industry. The following represents what the president of Computer Resources, Wayne Anschutz feels is the value of the presentation means to their business: "Lee, as you well know CRI uses filePro as a hidden product. This does not mean that we do not actively sell development systems and accessory products to our customers. It does mean that we operate primarily with runtime only installs with our application as the thrust of the sale. Because of this, we were not sure what a filePro presentation would mean to our end users and/or to us. Since we intended to announce the availability of GI to our users it seemed appropriate to include your presentation to the group. Lee, we believe it went well beyond the GI announcement. We continuously get 'beaten up' with GUI and Bill Gates products in general - (why don't you use Access, etc.) It meant a lot to the group to know that filePro was a real player in the database world. Hearing it from you made them believe. Hearing it from us would NEVER have had the same impact. I suppose "straight from the horse's mouth" best describes it. Part of the group represented the system's people. Those folks benefitted the most from your presentation. They are the ones responsible for getting the boss hooked up with his Bill Gates product to the information in our database. They know the difference between rapid data entry and an unskilled boss wanting to look at results. Several folks approached me after your presentation stating that they do NOT want GUI as they can drive our application in their sleep. Those same folks stated that the boss should have GI so he can see data in his own slow window's way. Your presentation fit very well with our own approach to GUI. Lee, I believe filePro 5.0 is a strong product even though there were rapid deployment of releases. I don't think you can ever compete with the likes of a mass marketed product like Access any more than we could compete with Quick Books. I think your Caldera link is excellent and I think your time with our group was well spent. Next week I have an appointment with a man representing a very large user now looking at our competetors. A member of the search committee for that company saw your presentation. I would wager that without your presentation we may well have received one of those unwanted letters asking for the data export to help the new guy start his system. That alone is a lot of value! Again, thanks for coming, Wayne [Anschutz]" If you think a fileProGI presentation to your customers would benefit your business, please contact us at 1-800-847-4740 to schedule one today. fileProGI Road Shows will be continuing throughout this year with the next one scheduled for Baltimore, MD on June 13th.
