filePro 5.6 is Released!
Including:
- 64-bit I/O that breaks the 2GB file storage size limit!
(Note: May require new OS)
- Data Encryption supporting
various encryption standards including:
Blowfish, Twofish, AES,
Rijandel, DES, Safer+, and Rc2
- Nested Calls provides “calls” within
processing tables to be nested and limited only by the system’s
resources.
- Spell check commands that check spelling within memo or data
field s. Words can be added to or deleted from the dictionaries
allowing the user to make custom dictionaries.
- 26 Automatic
Indexes (A to Z) are available for developers
that require this feature. Indexing procedures have not been
modified.
- fP License Manager offers several features
for the filePro customers.
- Reduce user counts. “ System
calls” from
within a processing session will be excluded from
the user counts. This means that if you have a “system
call” within
your processing table you will be charged with only one (1)
session user count; however, if you open another session
you will be charged with a second (2 nd) user count. Under
prior releases, you were charged three (3) users counts.
(One count for the 1 st session, one (1) for the “system
call”, and
one (1) for the 2 nd session. )
- Simpler Licensing. Upon request you will be provided
a media CD that will contain all filePro products. The License
Manager will be used to activate only the products/features
purchased. Adding additional user counts, products or features
can now be done by downloading a new license and not the
media.
- Allow for “free” evaluation software with
time or record count limits. This will allow you or new developers/users
to “try” a product, prior to purchase. If you wish
to purchase, you simply purchase a new license and then you
are ready to install and continue developing your application.
- Windows
UNC support now allows you to store your data
at:
\\machine name\share name
filePro 5.6 can also optionally support sockets withthe
purchase of fP
Sockets.
For additional information see the "references” and “revision
history” sections of the online filePro Manual.
